In 1950\u2019s, castor was a crop of low value and\u00a0was primarily grown in dry areas of Andhra\u00a0Pradesh, a state in southern India. But over the\u00a0years, the center of castor production has shifted\u00a0to Gujarat, a state in western India. Interestingly\u00a0enough, most of the increase in castor production has come from Gujarat where this crop has\u00a0become a major cash crop in the farmers\u2019 portfolio.<\/p>\n
In this article (http:\/\/bit.ly\/12ElJ4R<\/a>), various policy parameters which enabled castor crop to become an economic success in Gujarat were studied.
