Researchers from Tanzania conducted an experiment to stabilize cadmium sulphide quantum dots with the help of castor oil and ricinoleic acid. Cadmium sulphide quantum 
dots capped with castor oil and ricinoleic acid were prepared and analysed using various characterization techniques.
Results from all the characterization studies confirmed the formation of spherical shaped castor oil and ricinoleic acid capped cadmium sulphide quantum dots.
Scientists from Japan conducted an experiment to increase the toughness of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) with the help of polyester urethane networks obtained from castor oil based oligomers. Hydroxy-terminated castor oil-modified ɛ-
caprolactone oligomers (CO-CLOns) were prepared by ring opening polymerizations of ɛ-caprolactone initiated with castor oil. It was then allowed to react with poly(L-lactide) which produced semi-interpenetrating polymer networks composed of TDI-bridged CO-CLOn networksand PLLA.
DSC analysis revealed that TCO-CLO10/PLLA 75/25 exhibited the highest tensile toughness compared to other polymer networks.

Castor seeds are being sold at the rate of Rs. 4000/quintal in Andhra Pradesh and
Telangana owing to steady export demand and increased acreage in the kharif season.
Earlier, during the sowing season, prices surged from Rs. 3900/quintal to Rs. 4200/quintal due to slow progress of sowing in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

Sufficient supply along with limited demand reduced the castor seed price in the spot 
market. Castor seed futures traded lower on higher supply as well as strong production estimates.
The castor seed prices declined Rs. 5 to Rs. 790 – 800 per 20 kg in Gujarat. On the Rajkot Commodity Exchange, castor December contract lost Rs. 21 to Rs. 4,122 per quintal. RCX spot castor declined Rs. 25 to Rs. 3,925 per quintal.
Scientists from Brazil conducted an experiment to evaluate the replacing levels of soybean meal with castor seed meal in diets for lambs on the productive and metabolic parameters. The lambs were fed with varying concentrations 
of castor seed meal replacing soybean meal. The experimental setup was completely randomized with five treatments and ten replicates.
The experimental results showed that despite the decreased intake, nutrient digestibility and nitrogen balance, castor seed meal could replace 50% of soybean meal without changing the lamb’s blood parameters or performance.

Castor seed prices increased by Rs. 54 to Rs. 4,269/quintal due to firming trend at the spot market. At NCDEX, castor seed delivery for November contracts increased by 1.28% to Rs 4,269/quintal.
Also, commodity for delivery in October contracts was trading higher by 0.73% at Rs. 4155/quintal.
