Sebacic Acid Export from Duqm Plant to Start in ’18

Sebaic Oman will start exporting sebacic acid from its $62 million plant in Duqm from Q1 2018, as it would become operational by the end of 2017.sebacic acid

Sebacic acid in powder form would be filled into flexi tanks in containers and exported from Port of Duqm to countries such as US, China and Japan and the equipment meant for the 30,000 tonnes/year plant had been arriving through the port.

Biobased PA 6.10 Compounds Added to Portfolio of BioFed

German biodegradable and biobased plastics producer Bio-Fed  has added renewable resource-based polyamide compounds, the “MVera ECS” products, to its portfolio. The main focus of Bio-Fed is on compostable and biodegradable plastic compounds for film applications as well as injection moulding.bio-fed

The new PA 6.10 fulfils the standard definition of a bioplastic since it is made up of approximately 60% renewable resources. Castor oil, derived from the seeds of the plant Ricinuns communis, forms the basis of sebacic acid, which is the product’s renewable raw material content.

First CMA CGM Container Ship Arrives in Duqm Port for Sebacic Oman

Port of Duqm has received the first containers from French shipping giant CMA CGM via the Oman Express Service operated by Oman Shipping Company through its subsidiary Oman Container Line.Sebacic_acid_3D_ball

The containers, which were loaded with project equipment for Sebacic Oman SAOC, soon to become the world’s largest Sebacic Acid plant in Duqm, originated from China and were transshipped via another regional port.

Port of Duqm received the containers at its early container terminal, from where they will be delivered to Sebacic Oman’s site.

Sebacic Oman Refinery Project Launched

The Special Economic Zone in a’ Duqm (SEZD) celebrated the laying of the foundation stone for OMR24 million Sebacic Oman Refinery Company for the production of Sebacic acid which is the first project of its kind in the Middle East.Sebacic_acid_3D_ball

The project will be built on a land area of about 400,000 square meters to produce the Sebacic acid, which is extracted from castor oil and enters in many of the chemical industry, manufacturers of plastics and medicines.
