Positive Spot Leads Lift Castor Seed Futures

Castor seed prices rebounded Rs 16 to Rs 4,508 per quintal in futures trade early November, after participants created fresh positions at the existing levels amid a firm trend in the physical market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castor seed for delivery in December contracts improved by Rs 16 — or 0.36 per cent — to Rs 4,508 per quintal, with an open interest of 53,800 lots.

Similarly, the most-traded delivery in November also went up Rs 14, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 4,452 per quintal, having an open interest of 62,640 lots.

Market players stated the uptick in castor seed future prices to restricted arrivals amid gearing up in demand from paint and lubricant industries in spot markets.

At The National Commodity and Derivative Exchange counter, castor seed delivery for the most traded November month contract hardened by Rs 38 or 0.87 percent to Rs 4,413 per quintal, with an open interest of 80,370 lots.

Castor seed prices softened by Rs 21 to Rs 4,615 per quintal in futures trading today on trimming of bets by participants taking weak cues from the spot markets on low demand.Castor-Oil-Seeds2

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the contract of castor seed for delivery in October was trading lower by Rs 21, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 4,615 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 42,500 lots.

The delivery for November contract also eased by Rs 20, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 4,715 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 74,120 lots.
